Dedicated Volunteer and White Goods
The Benevolent Fund was contacted by Miss T, an ex member of staff, for help after being diagnosed with a significant long term health condition. Prior to diagnosis she had been managing her finances effectively, but after a period of unemployment following diagnosis and throughout treatment found herself struggling to meet the additional costs of essential medication, dietary requirements and travel costs to visit consultants. The Benevolent Fund supported her with a dedicated volunteer who maintained regular contact and was able to provide support promptly when needed e.g. when her fridge broke down which was essential to storing medication safely, we were able to order a replacement from a local company and arrange delivery. We were also able to help her make a successful application to the Bank's Pensions department for early retirement on the grounds of her ill health, thereby ensuring a regular income.
